Ouarzazate: Gorges, Valleys and Palmeraies

The Gorges, The Valley and the Oued of Todra:
The gorges of Todra are high cliffs (max = 300 m). With a "normal" car, we can easily get into the gorges on a good and straight road until we find a river which we pass carefully. Then the road is made of soil and stones. There is a hotel and a restaurant at the foot of the highest cliff. It’s from there that climber start the climb with their climbing equipment, the assault from the cliff is very beautiful.

The Valley of Todra:
Oasis that happen as a green ribbon along deserted places, on 20 kilometres long and an average of 1 to 2 kilometres. Situation of the Valley: The limits of the valley are from the north, the Big Atlas, the ceiling and the valley of the Oued Imider; from the South the oriental part of the Jbel Saghro on the East the oriented chanes of the North South of the Bou Touri, the Jbel Tisdafin and the Ferkla.
The Oued of Todra:
The Oued Todra is one of the Oueds that is straight from the Cheris, it changes its name in its inferior part and take that of the districts it crosses, the ferkle, before throwing itself to the Cheris. The Todra Oued descended from the Great Atlas and is alimented in its high part by numerous sources and never lacks water. At least in its middle Valley.
Description of the Oued:
the oued Todra has limpid water in an agreeable taste, its bed is never marked; a big number of diverted cannons give in all times an abundant irrigation to the plantations that borders it. During the inferior part of its run it crosses the inferior stage of the plain, it pours in the middle of a canyon of about 1,000 meters of wideness separated from the neighbouring fields from 8 to 10 meters. The depths of the canyon are made of sand and covered by the palm trees: it’s the heart of the oasis… in the part where it crosses the superior stage; the Oued digs a Valley with a little curve. Having a dept of 1,200 to 1,500 meters of large. At the time when the snow melts down the Oued Todra so strong overcomes the boundaries of Testafit. It follows its flow across the plain in a bed which all along the year is nothing but a path full of galets. So during only few days the Oued Todra and the Oued Ferkla become one big river. The Todra is not always full. The principles are: On the left side assif tidrin; on the right side assif Imi N'OUZLAG, which confluent to Ait Snan, the Oued Arg n'sidi Ali or Bourk, which confluent to Taourirt n'Imzilen, and the Oued Imider which pours in the Todra at Taria.
